ALASKA CHARITY REGISTRATION RENEWALS DUE
Alaska charity registration renewals due NLT September 1st!
Alaska is one of only a few states that has a specific calendar due date for charitable solicitation registration renewals and it is just around the corner – September 1st of each year. No extensions are allowed, but no late fees are charged! A nonprofit cannot solicit contributions unless the registration is current.
Your choice – online or snail mail!
AK has both a mail-in and online charity renewal process. The online system is relatively new. Organizations must pay the $40 filing up front, then AK sends a link to complete the online renewal. One problem – the online system does not save the work in progress – so if you need to secure an approval or signature, you will have to re-enter all the information:( The mail-in form is easy to use. The only attachment required is a board list with executive staff. No audit. No IRS Form 990. AK no longer accepts the Unified Registration Statement.
Visit AK Charity Registration for more information or give me a call – I’d love to chat with you about Alaska, or any state, charity registration requirements.
